If you found the old sycanz.vercel.app blog, welcome back. If not, hi, I’m Aiden. I’m a Site Reliability Engineer at YTL AI Labs, and this is where I write things down.

Why rebuild the blog

The old site was a student project: a cybersecurity blog with three posts and a résumé rendered as a PNG. It did its job. But a lot has changed since then. I graduated, finished an internship at Grab, and started my first full-time role doing InfraOps. The things I want to write about have changed too.

So I rebuilt it with Astro: static HTML, no client-side routing, fast on a bad connection, and friendly to search engines. It’s hosted on Cloudflare.

What I’ll write about

Roughly three buckets:

Reliability and platform work. Monitoring, identity, Terraform, GitOps and Kubernetes. The day-to-day of keeping things up, minus anything confidential.
Homelab and side projects. I’m building a small internal developer platform on OCI’s free tier. It breaks constantly. That’s the point.
Security. Where I started. DevSecOps pipelines, policy-as-code, and the occasional CTF write-up.

Note Most posts will be the “here’s the wall I hit and how I got over it” kind. If you’re early in your career too, I hope they save you a few hours.
